Wine Tour of Temecula, CA

Today was a day of firsts for me. It was my first time using Groupon, my first time taking a wine tour, and my first time in a party bus.

A few days ago, my wife found a deal on Groupon for a half priced wine tour of Temecula. Temecula is a small town off I-15 north of San Diego and south of Los Angeles. As it turns out, Temecula has become a the Napa Valley of Southern California (who knew?). As we got off I-15 and headed east, it seemed like the grapevines went on forever. There were no less than a dozen wineries in a five-mile stretch of road.

Our first stop was at the Inn at Churon Winery were we met up with our tour bus. The tour was through a company called Uncorked Tours Of Temecula. For $89 (Groupon Price), we got chauffeured around to three different wineries, got to enjoy wine samplings at each one, had professional photos taken of us, and got to ride around a pretty amazing party bus. The tour guide was really awesome and made the trip even better.

It was a pretty neat experience overall, and something I will definitely do again. However, I don’t think I will tour more than one winery per day. After touring three wineries and sampling wine at each one, I was totally blitzed. Luckily, my wife didn’t drink quite as much as I did and was able to get us to dinner where we were able to sober up.

Wineries We Visited:

Inn at Churon Winery

Danza Del Sol Winery

Longshadow Ranch Winery

My favorite of the three was Longshadow Ranch. The staff was friendly that all three, but the guy behind the counter at Longshadow was the “funnest”. They also had music going on in the background, which was a nice touch.
