Since I don’t actually belong to a gym in Vista, I affectionately refer to the hike behind my house as my new gym. I posted about the hike before, but this time I was armed with a better camera and Nike+ so I could track the distance.
According to my Nike+ it’s about 1 to 1.25 miles from our house to the top of the mountain. There are a couple offshoots on the path, so depending on which way you go, it can be a little longer or shorter. When I went yesterday our round-trip was 2.11 miles, but today clocked in at 2.52 miles. Later in the week I will continue the very end of the path, which I suspect is another 1/2 to 1 mile further.
The weather was absolutely perfect today. There wasn’t a cloud to be found in the sky, the temperature was at a perfect 72°, and there was an ever so slight ocean breeze. Not only was it a perfect day for a hike, but it was a great day to take some pictures.
The only problem with this hike is that there is absolutely no way pictures could do the view any justice. There are points on the hike where you have a perfect 360° panoramic view of Southern California. Below are a few pictures that will give you at least some idea of the views on the hike. As always, the doggie joined us on the hike and he was nice enough to pose for a picture of his own.
