Today was our last pickup of our 4 week trial membership to JR Organics CSA. It was kind of sad knowing that we won’t be able to enjoy their great food much longer since we’re heading out of town pretty soon.
Week 4 Box Contents:
This week’s box contents included Lettuce, Broccoli, Arugula, Swiss Chard, Bell Peppers, Carrots, Baby Leeks, Beets, Apples, Navel Oranges, and Avocados. As always, JR Organics lets you swap out up to two items from your box. So, we elected to swap out the oranges (since we have orange trees in our backyard) and the carrots. We replaced those items with a bag of spinach and a bunch of bok choy. Here is what we ended up with:
Our Review Of JR Organics CSA:
Now that our trial membership is over I wanted to give a review of JR Organics. Overall, I would have to say our experience was extremely positive. The people at JR Organics couldn’t be nicer. I looked forward to going to their stand every week and being greeted by extremely friendly staff. As I mentioned, they let you swap out two items each week; they make that process extremely painless. Plus, they give a discount to CSA members on everything else at their stand.
Since we are leaving San Diego in three weeks, we obviously can’t renew our CSA membership. However, if we were sticking around I would renew for sure! The only thing I would do different is switch to a small box versus the large box we had been getting. The large box is simply too much food for just my wife and I to consume each week.
We’ll still use JR Organics over the next three weeks while we’re still in San Diego. We’ll just visit their stand during the San Marcos farmers market each week. Their stand has everything (and more) that is included in the box, we’ll just have to buy it piecemeal.
